December 2, 2007

“I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:10b-11

Each and every Sunday we come together as a family and as a body of believers here at Prestoncrest. The purpose of this email, sent to our entire congregation, is to help us focus on the first day of the week, preparing to gather together to partake of the Lord’s Supper and to praise and worship God.

Prayer Time

2 Thessalonians 1:11

Prayertime is our time to be together, lifting our prayers to our Father in heaven. Sunday morning, we will ask you to spend Prayer Time praying for someone else in our church family. So think in advance about our congregation and about people in our church for whom you can bring to God during Prayer Time.

Communion

Isaiah 48:10-11

Some time ago a lady, curious about the process of refining silver, visited a silversmith. During this time he fully described the procedures involving intense heat and waiting. As the lady was leaving the shop, the silversmith called her back, and said he had forgotten to mention that the only way that he knows when the process of purifying is complete is when he sees his own image reflected in the silver.

Do you feel like you are being refined? Does life seem to consume you? Come gather with us around the table Sunday morning, as we are ALL being refined in one way or another for the Glory of God.

Sermon

“Breath of Heaven: An Act of Promise” (Bob Chisholm)
1 Corinthians 15:45-47

Long before the angel appeared to Mary, God began His plan of salvation. The “Breath of Heaven” came into the world as an infant, born in a manger to die on the cross. This Sunday, we begin a 4-part series on the birth of Jesus and the hope that He brings to the world. The special Christmas worship, on the evening on December 23, will be the pinnacle of this series as we celebrate the birth and give praise to God for His plan, Jesus.

We are encouraged to be a family of believers that choose to come together each week in worship. Come this Sunday with a desire to not just come to church, but come to truly be the church.

Sunday Evening

The Doors” (Matt Mazza)
Matthew 7:8

Doors are placed in front of us everyday and we must make choices about whether or not to walk through them. Is that the door that God wants me to walk through? Join us on Sunday night as we examine the many different doors before us and how we know which door is the one that leads to Him.
